DESCRIPTION:The Mayor Continues #FairShotJobs Week\, Highlighting Employment Programs and Career Opportunities at DC Government\n\n\n\n\n\n(Washington\, DC) Today\, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) are encouraging residents to register for the District’s largest ever virtual hiring fair\, “New Year\, New Career.” The hiring fair will take place over two days\, on Wednesday\, March 16 and Thursday\, March 17\, from 10 am to 6 pm each day. \n“We want people who love DC and live in DC to come work for DC\,” said Mayor Bowser. “We have positions available across District agencies\, at every level\, and we know that there are people in our community who need a job – or who are looking for a new job – and we want them to know that DC Government is a fantastic place to work and we want them to register for this job fair.” \nEach day of the fair\, job seekers can chat with hiring managers from across District government and qualified applicants may have an opportunity to interview via video chat or phone call. \nThe following District agencies may make on-the-spot job offers the day of or within 30 days following the event pending any necessary extensions due to suitability\, for over 500+ vacancies in a number of industries to include IT development\, insurance and banking\, social work\, public safety\, health\, education\, legal\, contracting\, and construction: \n\nDC Department of Housing and Community Development\nDC Department of Health\nDC Child and Family Services\nDC Public Library\nOffice of State Superintendent of Education\nOffice of Contracting and Procurement\nOffice of Inspector General\nDC Department of Human Services\nOffice of Unified Communications\nOffice of the Chief Technology Officer\nDC Department of Regulatory Affairs\nDC Department of Transportation\nDC Department of Energy and Environment\nOffice of Human Rights\nDC Department of Employment Services\nDC Department of Corrections\nDC Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services\nDC Public Schools\nDC Department of General Services\nOffice of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia\nDC Department of Insurance\, Securities\, and Banking\nDC Department of For-Hire Vehicles\nDC Department of Human Resources\n\nApplicants will also have the option of claiming additional preference if they are: \n\nA District resident;Anyone claiming District residency preference at the time of application should be prepared to provide a government-issued form of identification and proof of voter registration.\nA veteran (and/or has disabilities from military service);Applicants claiming veteran’s preference should be prepared to provide a copy of their DD-214.\n18 to 21 years of age and is currently or was a Child and Family Services (CFSA) foster care recipient within the last five years. Applicants claiming a foster care preference will need a letter or other documentation from CFSA or the Family Court of D.C. Superior Court showing that they are currently in foster care or showing the date they left court supervision.\n\nThe event is free and registration is required.
