Sickle Cell Anemia sufferers require regular transfusions\, and Black donors have the highest chance of providing blood with the most compatible antigens. Don’t miss the brief program at 5:30 pm\, with a welcome from Naima Jefferson\, president of the Shepherd Park Citizens Association; blessings from Rabbi Michael Werbow of Tifereth Israel Congregation and Rev. Terri McLellan\, senior pastor of Shepherd Park Christian Church; and a note from Mark Simpson with Urban Atlantic. \nThe event takes place on Saturday\, December 4\, from 5-6:30 pm at the Arts Plaza at The Parks\, 6810 Cameron Drive\, adjacent to the dog park. Biking\, scooting\, and walking are recommended. \nProvide & Wrap Gifts for Children With Housing Up\nThis year\, we are partnering with Housing Up on their Holiday Drive\, which is raising funds to purchase gifts for the nearly 1\,500 children in their permanent supportive housing program. You can donate on their website\, or bring new\, unwrapped gifts for children ages 0-18 to the Holiday Celebration. \nWe’ll have a wrapping station so all you crafty folks out there can help wrap and label the new gifts! DESCRIPTION:Over the last few years discussions concerning youth and policing have taken center stage. Often these discussions are missing a critical voice\, the youth voice.
